WORKSHOP TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF SECTORAL TEAMS IN THE FORMULATION OF NUTRITION POLICY ANALYSIS QUESTIONS

15-04-2019

The National Multisectoral Information Platform for Nutrition (PNMIN) is an international initiative of the European Union (EU) with the support of the United Kingdom and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Countries participating in this initiative are being supported to put in place a platform to consolidate and analyze available information and sector data to support the development of evidence-based policies and strategies to improve the nutrition situation. The initiative is mainly set up for the European Union's partner countries and members of the Scaling-up Nutrition (SUN) movement, thus countries committed to preventing malnutrition.
The objective of the PNMIN initiative is to help reduce chronic undernutrition in order to reach the targets by 2025. It is fully in line with the National Multisectoral Nutrition Plan and the plan for EU Nutrition Action on improving the knowledge base and evidence, information and accountability for nutrition.
In Côte d'Ivoire, the National Multisectoral Information Platform for Nutrition (PNMIN) will be a national platform to facilitate multisectoral and multi-stakeholder dialogue on nutrition and support the use of existing information and data to develop and adjust policies and programs.
In the process of implementing the activities of this platform, comes the operational cycle which consists of three phases namely: (i) the formulation of questions according to national priorities; (ii) the analysis of data to answer the questions asked; and (iii) the communication of results to the government.
The formulation of the analytical questions is the first step in the PNIN operational cycle, and the starting point for a data-driven dialogue process between policy makers and analysts.
It is in this context that the STP-CNN organizes a capacity building workshop for the sectoral teams for the implementation of the PNIN approach. This workshop, which will focus on the formulation of analytical questions, will take place from April 15 to 17, 2019 at the Mantchan Hotel in Grand Bassam.
